Ubisoft developing four-player cooperative action game for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC to serve as prequel to upcoming ensemble action movie sequel.
The new feature film The Expendables 2 is getting a gaming tie-in, courtesy of Ubisoft. The publisher today announced the Expendables 2 game, set for downloadable release this summer on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC.
The game is set just before the events of the new movie, with a group of mercenaries led by Barney Ross (Sylvester Stallone) on a mission to free a kidnapped billionaire. The game will feature four-player cooperative action online or offline, with Ross joined by Gunner Jensen (Dolph Lundgren), Hale Caesar (Terry Crews), and Yin Yang (Jet Li) as playable characters.
It's unclear how many of the action-movie all-star cast from the film will be lending their likenesses to the game. The film's other familiar faces that fans might recognize include Arnold Schwarzenegger, Bruce Willis, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Jason Statham, Chuck Norris, and Randy Couture. The Expendables 2 hits theaters in North America on August 17, and the film is not yet rated.
