BioWare reveals first shot for upcoming role-playing game, says Frostbite engine has allowed artists to create "stunning" work.

BioWare has revealed the first, albeit blurry, screenshot for Dragon Age III: Inquisition. BioWare art and animation director Neil Thompson showed off the image during a presentation at the Bradford Animation Festival (attended by Eurogamer) last night.

"That is Dragon Age: Inquisition," Thompson said, of the image. "It's the first time anyone has seen a frame of it outside BioWare studios."

The image was taken down quickly, though one BioWare fan posted it to the BioWare forums. A higher-resolution version is expected to be released in the future.

BioWare had previously released a batch of concept art for the game.

In addition to revealing the first screenshot for Dragon Age III: Inquisition, Thompson spoke about how BioWare's use of the Frostbite engine has been beneficial to the development team.

"Mass Effect was done on Unreal of course," he said. …Dragon Age was done on the proprietary engine Eclipse. I think anyone who played Dragon Age II would agree that engine was starting to creak a little bit by the time that was released. Obviously Frostbite is the Battlefield engine built by DICE. It's a beautiful, beautiful engine. And what we've found is an improvement with [Dragon Age III] is the artists who were really battling with the Eclipse engine have just embraced Frostbite. The work they're doing now is stunning."

Dragon Age III: Inquisition was officially announced in September and is due out for unspecified platforms during late 2013 (the same time analysts believe new consoles from Microsoft and Sony will be on store shelves).
