Christmas isn't for another few weeks, but Electronic Arts has a gift for you right now. The publisher is currently offering its classic city-building game SimCity 2000 to all Origin users as a free download. The freebie is part of Origin's "On the House" promo, which sees the publisher give away free PC games from time to time. Others have included Dead Space and Plants vs. Zombies. To download your free copy of SimCity 2000, just head to the EA Origin On the House page and click "Get It Now." There are no strings attached or other limitations; it's yours to play as long as you'd like. EA hasn't said how long SimCity 2000 will be available for free, so if you're interested, we recommended downloading right away. The game normally sells for $6. Origin's other free game promo, Game Time, also currently has some great games you can play right now, though only for a limited time. These include Battlefield 4 (seven days), Titanfall (48 hours), and Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning (48 hours). Got a news tip or want to contact us directly? Email news@gamespot.com
