Guild Wars 2 gets $150 Collector’s Edition

Premium bundle to include 10-inch warrior statue, "making of" book, soundtrack CD, and in-game items; early access promotion detailed.

Gamers seeking out a premium version of ArenaNet's much-anticipated massively multiplayer online role-playing game Guild Wars 2 are in luck. Publisher NCsoft today took the wraps off the Guild Wars 2 Collector's Edition, noting the $150 bundle will include a host of real-world and in-game items.

The centerpiece of the Guild Wars 2 Collector's Edition is a hand-painted 10-inch statue of the bestial warrior Rytlock Brimstone wielding a flaming sword. In addition, players who pick up that bundle will receive five Guild Wars 2 art prints and a custom frame, as well as a 112-page Making of Guild Wars 2 hardcover book, and a Best of Guild Wars 2 soundtrack CD.

The Guild Wars 2 Collector's Edition also comes with in-game items. Players will score five wares, including Mistfire Wolf and miniature Rytlock companions.

NCsoft also announced a $70 Digital Deluxe version of Guild Wars 2, but the publisher did not share any details concerning this pack. Players who pre-purchase any version of Guild Wars 2 will be awarded an "exclusive" stat-boosting Hero's band.

On top of the bonuses included in the premium versions of Guild Wars 2, gamers who pre-purchase the game will be guaranteed access to all upcoming beta weekend events. In addition, those who pre-buy can play the title three days ahead of its launch date.

Early access to Guild Wars 2 isn't limited to those who purchase the game in full prior to its release. Gamers who preorder the Guild Wars 2 from participating retailers will receive a one-day head start ahead of the game's full launch.

A beta for Guild Wars 2--which attracted over 1 million applicants--will begin in March, with the full game expected to be released during 2012. The team at ArenaNet has a small group working on a console version of the game, but no announcements have been made concerning Guild Wars 2 arriving outside of the PC.
