Guillermo Del Toro's next movie as director, Nightmare Alley, isn't expected until 2021, but as a producer, his name continues to be attached a variety of films. Hot on the heels of Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark, the full trailer for the Del Toro-produced horror movie Antlers has been released. The trailer gives us more than August's first teaser, but it's still extremely mysterious. In the trailer, there's a young boy discovering something gruesome in the woods near where he lives. His mother looks worried. There is a cop investigating something sinister and hints that there's something big and scary living in the woods. There's only one word of dialogue in the entire trailer, and the whole thing is seriously spooky. Check it out below. Antlers stars Keri Russell (Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker), Jesse Plemons (El Camino: A Breaking Bad Story), Scott Haze (Venom), and Rory Cochrane (CSI Miami). It's directed by Scott Cooper, who previously helmed Black Mass and Crazy Heart, and the movie releases on April 17, 2020. In an interview with Collider, Cooper spoke about being chosen by Del Toro to direct the movie, despite not having previously worked in the horror genre. "[Guillermo] said I've obviously never seen you direct a horror film, but there's a lot of horrific moments in your movies, so I'm more interested in someone who doesn't work in that genre to step into it," Cooper said. "Which is I guess a bit like [William] Friedkin in a sense, having not directing in that genre before he took on The Exorcist. So I find that exciting. "I was so influenced early on by the work of John Carpenter, like Halloween, or certainly The Exorcist which is a favorite of mine, or even Tarkovsky's Stalker. So I'm able to bring all of that into one film which is exciting." For more, check out GameSpot's guide to the biggest horror movies and shows to watch this fall.
