It’s that time of year again, that’s right, the time of year where we discuss whether or not Halloween is going to happen. Obviously due to the pandemic last year’s Halloween was for the most part canceled. In my neighborhood it was discouraged and I personally wasn’t interested. This year however my outlook is a bit more optimistic with high vaccine rates and the eligibility for younger children to get the vaccine drawing near, we are getting back to as close to normal as ever. My son has just turned 4 and Halloween is high on his list of things he loves. He loves listening to Spooky Scary Skeletons and while he was going through a Superman phase recently, this time of year always brings him back to Ghostbusters. He had been a Ghostbuster for Halloween a couple of years ago and I even reviewed a few costumes for me, you can read about those here. He has definitely outgrown his old costume so it was time for something new, something deluxe.
Above is the package for the HalloweenCostumes.com/Fun.com exclusive Ghostbusters costume for children. While the image on the website and the package show the gloves, the item description makes it clear that gloves are not included. Which is fine, my son is funny about his hands so I’m good without them, just wish the image reflected the reality. Overall the quality is great and more importantly for a growing and pretty big for his age boy, the fit is great. The sizing chart on the website was accurate and helpful. He was able to run around the house busting ghosts with me without a problem with a bit of room to grow. Included is the jumpsuit, proton pack with wand (more like a backpack with a foam wand), and your choice of name badges. This costume comes with all the original Ghostbusters patches which was preferred but with the new movie having kids in the flight suits I might have to update again next year.
While I’m not impressed by the pack, I know it’s the standard pack that comes with costumes and you should not be expecting replica quality. This type of pack works great for kids as it doubles as a trick or treat bag and has some practical use beyond Halloween. Plus with all the walking that is done it is best to carry something light or else the complaints about feet hurting will come sooner than necessary. I really enjoyed the product but my opinion matters little since this was for my son and he loves it. He wants to wear it all the time and we are planning on wearing it for an upcoming Disneyland visit. He will be able to live out my childhood fantasy of dressing like a Ghostbuster at the Haunted Mansion!
Overall I do think the quality is commensurate with the price point. Doing some comparative shopping I found this to be one of the better Ghostbusters costumes for children on the market. I think it’s impressive that these costumes are available year-round since in my childhood Ghostbusters had their moment and were gone from shelves. I outgrew my flight suit as a child and had zero options for replacement. I’d like to thank HalloweenCostumes.com for providing the sample for this review, which can be purchased here.
