Earlier this year HalloweenCostumes.com conducted a survey amongst their customer base to determine trends for Halloween. They then publish that data with fun infographics and information like this:
I found a lot of this information interesting and insightful, learning what different expectations and hopes people have for the Halloween season. I’ll be using this analysis to post some costume suggestions for your family directly from our friends at HalloweenCostumes.com. But before I do that, I wanted to share a couple more infographics that I found intriguing:
I find it funny that the modern movie monster most associated with Halloween is not the one from a movie franchise called “Halloween”. I find it especially interesting that Annie Wilkes from “Misery” is more popular than Regan from “The Exorcist”, I guess it is an easier costume to pull off and not as disgusting. The next graphic is the final one I’ll be sharing and it’s the one I used to make my selections for costume recommendations, most of which are exclusive to HalloweenCostumes.com:
If you find this stuff fascinating like I do there’s plenty more to be found here. Here are some of the best costumes I could find that exemplify the most popular themes in the chart above, starting with Anime:
Dragon Ball Z Goku Men’s Costume
When I searched Anime this was one of the first costumes that showed up. I’m not very knowledgeable on Anime so I didn’t want to recommend a costume from a property I wasn’t aware of. Plus, Goku has become an icon in his own right, being able to stand next to Superman and Mickey Mouse as an instantly recognizable character throughout the world. This show accurate costume captures his classic outfit very well while looking quite comfortable.
Distressed Nightmare on Elm Street Women’s Sweater Dress
A Halloween trend that I enjoy is gender-swapped characters. When I was a kid modern movie monsters really scared me, Freddy Krueger and Chucky being the ones that terrified me the most. Seeing costumes like these not only make me feel comfortable but also put me at ease for when my son is out and about. While we rarely see adults in spooky costumes, knowing that this is an option is quite comforting.
Marvel Deadpool Costume for Adults
Deadpool is a very popular character even without a hit movie having been recently released. I don’t read comics very often so I’m not familiar with the character outside of his films, Ryan Reynolds is the only Deadpool that I really know and I don’t really like him, though I can see his appeal. It’s kind of like seeing Jim Carrey playing a Marvel character in his prime. This costume looks very movie accurate and is made to fit various sizes. In the recent movie we meet an army of Deadpools from different universes, it would be fun to customize this costume to suit a Deadpool of your own making.
Chained Ghost Infant Costume
First and foremost Halloween is for children, an opportunity to dress us as their favorite characters in order to get free candy. What a deal! Of course very young children don’t really understand Halloween so I’d suggest getting them started as early as possible. This adorable infant costume with a spooky ghost theme falls under the ever popular “Ghost” category. It’s also the easiest costume to make but if you don’t want to ruin your linens then I’d suggest going to HalloweenCostumes.com to find the right costume for you.
Prestige Little Mermaid Ursula Women’s Costume
Disney as a category is pretty vague as it encompasses so much. Looking on the HC.com website you’re overwhelmed with all the options that include classic Disney animated movies, Pixar, Disney Channel shows, and so much more. It was hard to make a choice about what to use to show off Disney. This premium Ursula costume was one that stuck out to me because it not only looks great but uses inflatable costume technology that doesn’t seem as cumbersome as the full-body inflatable costumes. Ursula will have the attention of all the poor unfortunate souls when she walks into the party wearing this.
Boy’s Marvel Classic Incredible Hulk Toddler Costume
Avengers is also a catch-all category since in the comics and movies, most Marvel characters are Avengers. I think even Deadpool was an Avenger at some point. The decision of which character to choose was of course not difficult at all since I just went with my favorite as well as the strongest Avenger, The Incredible Hulk! As a child I probably would have chosen Spider-Man, now that I’m an adult I realize having a suppressed rage monster within and having my clothes constantly rip is way more relatable.
The above choices are just a small sample of what’s available and with Halloween just around the corner HalloweenCostumes.com has many shipping options to get what you need in time for the holiday. What are your Halloween costume ideas? Let me know in the comments below!
