'Deathly Hallows, Part 2' earns the series its third Golden Popcorn at Sunday night's show.

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Forget the Oscars! The MTV Movie Awards sure know how to honor "Harry Potter."
took home the award for Best Cast at the 21st annual awards show Sunday night (June 3). This is the third time the eight-film, decade-long series has taken home a Golden Popcorn, although it had been nominated at the awards show 18 times.
Emma Watson was on hand to accept the prize Sunday night, taking the stage to thank everyone involved in making the magical series come to life.
"I don't think I will ever accept an award on behalf of so many people," Watson said. "From Ralph Fiennes to Helena Bonham Carter to Hedwig and Dobby and all of them, this is amazing. We had over 200 cast members and I wish they could all be up here with me now. Sadly. they can't.
"Obviously I share this award in particular with [Daniel Radcliffe] and Rupert [Grint]," she added. "Wherever you are, I hope you're watching, and I miss you both dearly. Just, thank you. I really, really appreciate it."
The series' final film was . "The Hunger Games" and "Bridesmaids" both seemed like they would be front-runners, especially since they were the two top nominees. "21 Jump Street" and "The Help" also had great ensembles, but at the end of the night, Best Cast belonged to "Harry Potter."
This is the first year the MTV Movie Awards have handed out an award for Best Cast, taking the place of the Best On-Screen Team award. Though only Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson, Rupert Grint and Tom Felton were listed as the nominees, it's fair to say that "Harry Potter" is an entirely ensemble story. Everyone from Alan Rickman and Maggie Smith to Evanna Lynch and Matthew Lewis played pivotal roles, giving the best performances we've seen in the entire series. Really, this award is more a testament to the cast of the entire "Harry Potter" series, not just "Deathly Hallows, Part 2."
We'll miss the "Harry Potter" cast, but we're glad they were here as long as they were projects — and that we'll have plenty more of their projects (ahem, "The Perks of Being a Wallflower") to look forward to.
