2019 was a huge year for the global movie market, with Avengers: Endgame reaching $2.79 billion to become the highest-grossing and most profitable movie in the history of cinema. The Lion King, Frozen 2, Joker, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, and Toy Story 4 were among the nine movies to cross $1 billion at the global box office. But not every film from 2019 was so successful. Deadline has rounded up the biggest box office flops of 2019, and X-Men: Dark Phoenix claims the unfortunate record for the biggest loser of the year. Based on experts and sources, the site claims the movie ended up losing $133 million. It had a budget of $200 million, and it made just $252 million at the global box office (the bulk of which came from international markets). There were also significant marketing costs and other expenditures that turned the film into an overall money-loser, according to the report. You can see the full P&L sheet at Deadline.
