The William J. Clinton Library has posted a photo of Hillary Clinton doing what so many others did in the early 1990s: playing GameBoy. The photo you see below was taken on April 6, 1993 on her flight from Austin, Texas to Washington, DC. At this time, Bill Clinton was President and she was the First Lady. Hillary Clinton, the former US Secretary of State, is now herself running for President in the upcoming 2016 election. She announced her bid earlier this month and has been on the campaign trail since. It's tough to determine what game Hillary Clinton was playing in the photo, but it was probably Tetris. As spotted by Polygon, a 2002 New York Times story reveals she was particularly fond of that game. And in a April 1993 interview with Time [PDF], Hillary Clinton joked that she was "addicted" to Tetris. "I have become quite a fan of GameBoy," she said at the time, noting that she bought her own so she wouldn't have to keep borrowing her daughter's. "I really became addicted in the hospital," she said with a laugh. "I'm going to seek treatment." Vox also notes that the photo was snapped at a challenging time in Hillary Clinton's life, as it was taken the day before her father passed away. She had been at his bedside in the hospital for weeks. Current US President Barack Obama also enjoys video games; he even owns a copy of The Witcher.
