Indiana Jones And The Great Circle – A Game Of Wits Mak-Yek Puzzle Guide

Many puzzles in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle have clues in the environment--you can tackle them just by keeping your eyes peeled for clues. However, there's one that might stump you because it requires you to visualize how a match would play out. Here's our guide on how to complete A Game of Wits in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle.

How to solve A Gate of Wits in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle - Mak-Yek puzzle guide

A Game of Wits in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle, also known as the Mak-Yek puzzle, is a side quest in the Sukhotai level. What makes it quite tricky is that this board game, somewhat similar to checkers, tasks you with capturing an opponent's pieces without any player input. In effect, you just have to visualize the solution in your mind.

A Game of Wits location

You can tackle A Game of Wits in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle by heading to Voss' Camp all the way to the north of the map. There, you'll find several goodies:

  • You can pick up the Royal Army Uniform in the washing yard to the left of the main building. This is one of several available disguises/outfits in the game.
  • Voss' safe is in the camp's main building. Unlock it by inputting the following code: 5-4-8-4. This nets you over 2,000 baht, more than enough to purchase the Breathing Device that you need for most objectives.
  • The Mak-Yek board is on the second floor of the main building.

Mak-Yek rules

One of the documents details how Mak-Yek is played. Here's a quick summary:

  • You can only move your blue pieces vertically or horizontally in as many spaces until you hit an obstacle--i.e. another piece. You cannot move your pieces diagonally.
  • You capture red enemy pieces if they're between two of yours.
  • Alternatively, if there's a gap between two enemy pieces, moving your piece between them also captures those at the sides.

A Game of Wits and Mak-Yek puzzle solution

Above, you can see how we solved the Mak-Yek puzzle in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle:

  • First move: F1 to F3 - This causes two red pieces (E3 and G3) to get captured.
  • Second move: H1 to D1 - Since we just moved one of our pieces earlier, we can push H1 further to the left. This captures a red piece (C1).
  • Third move: B1 to B8 - Now, we can push the B1 piece all the way to the top. Four red pieces are captured because of this move (A8, C8, D8, and E8).
  • Fourth move: F8 to F6 - This last move captures the remaining red pieces (F4 and F5).

With the above in mind, take note of the numbers where we moved our blue pieces. These constitute a numerical code. So, just take a look behind you and input this code in the safe's panel: 3-1-8-6. This unlocks the safe, allowing you to pick up more baht currency.

That does it for our guide on how to complete the Mak-Yek puzzle and A Game of Wits in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. You should have a lot of baht to buy the Breathing Device, as well as collectible booklets, to enrich your exploration of the Sukhotai level.

You're bound to encounter many secrets, puzzles, and challenges in Indiana Jones and the Great Circle. As you continue your adventure, we encourage you to take a look at our Indiana Jones and the Great Circle guides hub.
