Since Selena Gomez is supposedly no longer Justin Bieber's official plus one (BTW, can we talk about how SADZ we still are about this!?), bro could have asked ANY GIRL ON THIS PLANET to the 2012 American Music Awards. But instead of inviting a Victoria's Secret model, Justin took his mom! Let's be honest: Along with buckets of ice cream, playing "Cry Me A River" on repeat, and maxing out your credit cards, everyone needs their mom to get through a breakup -- even award-winning artists like Biebs.

The Believe singer was snapped smooching his mom, Pattie Mallette, on the cheek while hitting the red carpet. Can we just talk about how awesome it is to be the mother of a famous heartthrob (she even wrote a book about it)? Like, to know that you raised a guy who performed the ish out of "As Long As You Love Me" and "Beauty And A Beat" AND THEN hit the stage with Justin to accept one of three separate AMAs -- it has to be every parent's dream, right?!

Can you think of a better way to thank your mom for all her unconditional love, support, and for changing your dirty diapers than by inviting her to brush elbows with A-list celebs like fellow AMA winners Taylor Swift and Nicki Minaj? A-NOPE. (Sigh... Sorry we're not famous, mom.)
