KOTOR team making new IP at BioWare

Mass Effect producer Casey Hudson says the "core team" that worked on 2003 RPG is handling development of new IP at Edmonton division.

BioWare Edmonton's all-new franchise is being developed by most of the "core team" that built 2003's Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic, Mass Effect series producer Casey Hudson has revealed.

"Most of our core team that worked on SWKOTOR has been together throughout the Mass Effect series, and now our new IP project," Hudson said on Twitter (via VG247).

Specifics about the project have not been divulged, but BioWare Edmonton senior producer Jonathan Warner recently said that he has been pleased with its development.

"A successful first project review for our new IP project today. Life is good!" Warner said yesterday.

BioWare announced this new project in September, saying the game is being built from the ground up running on "new gaming technology," potentially referencing the Xbox One and PlayStation 4.

During PAX East 2013, Hudson said he hopes this project can match the trajectory of the Mass Effect series.

"That's kind of our next thing. We're focusing on delivering something new, the way we did at the very beginning of Mass Effect," Hudson said at the time.

Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic recently marked its 10th anniversary. To mark the anniversary, Aspyr Media brought the game to iOS devices in late May.
