Don't be a drag, just be a queen. No, wait, DO BOTH.

Let's review the last week of Lady Gaga's life (in no particular order): First, she got naked with Marina Abramovic, then she got naked-er for V Magazine. THEN, last Monday night, Gaga dropped by Micky's West Hollywood, a famous drag bar in Los Angeles, to shoot the lyric video for "Applause" -- which fi-HI-nully dropped today! To paraphrase Supermodel Of The World RuPaul's famous words, Lady Gaga started this past seven days naked, and the rest was drag!

As always, our immediate reaction to the lyric video was to belt a primal "LAHV! LAHV! LAHV!" all "Bad Romance"-style. Once we had collected ourselves, we discovered even more interesting findings, which we've listed below.

1.) DAY-TO-NIGHT DRAG: If the Lady was indeed wearing that "pissed-off teenager who made out with a clown" makeup (her words, not ours) just before midnight on Monday while filming at Micky's, that means that she wore the "Applause" cover artwork-mirroring look for close to an entire day. Although she changed outfits, Gaga's getup is relatively indistinguishable from her Monday morning Ryan Seacrest appearance. For the woman who notoriously wore six distinct looks to the 2009 VMAs, this is shocking! Oh my God, what if the new Gaga is but a single Gaga? #GameChange

2.) LIFE IS GAGA'S CABARET, OLD CHUM: Does this staging choice signal a return to Gaga's cabaret-lounge roots? Remember, before Mother Monster was selling out arenas, she was working it at The Slipper Room, a famed burlesque club in Manhattan's Lower East Side neighborhood. Maybe we'll see her at more low-key venues in the coming months... #PinchUs #StopPinchingUs

3.) HAI, RUPAUL STAHHRS: Being the "RuPaul's Drag Race" superfans that we are, we IMMEDIATELY noticed past contestants Shangela Laquifa Wadley, Shannel, Willam, Detox, and Morgan McMichaels. There's no sight of the almighty Raven (aka, the star of MNDR's "Feed Me Diamonds" music video!), but who cares? WE'LL TAKE IT. Shantay, you all stay!

4.) SOME OF US JUST LIKE TO READ: Also, putting drag queens in the "Applause" lyric video really does add another level to that "some of us just like to read" lyric. Especially in the case of Willam.

The library is CLOSED.

5.) BUT WHAT DOES IT ALL MEEEEAN??: As for what this tells us about Lady Gaga's upcoming VMA performance (if anything), does her near-absence in front of the camera give us any clues as to what we can expect? We already know that she's leaving the meat dress at home, but will she leave HERSELF there as well? (CALLED IT, Y'ALL. Second paragraph.) Instead of Gaga, will we be barraged with a million drag queens in her place, all living for the applause as they lip sync for their lives?!?! Can't. Too much. Gaga overload. Won't make it... Tell my boyfriend... he... needs to walk the dog tonight...
