Replay Games and Al Lowe's $500,000 Kickstarter campaign successful with a week to spare; extra money going toward adding platforms, languages, and levels.
The lecherous Larry Laffer will return. The Kickstarter campaign for a Leisure Suit Larry remake today reached its $500,000 target, meaning developer Replay Games and creator Al Lowe will move forward developing a remake of the original Leisure Suit Larry in the Land of the Lounge Lizards.
The Leisure Suit Larry remake was announced as being in development for the PC, Mac, iPad, and Android tablets. Now that the campaign has surpassed its half-million goal (with six days remaining), the extra money will be put toward bringing the game to Xbox Live, the PlayStation Network, and Linux.
Additionally, with the monetary target reached, Replay Games plans to translate the Leisure Suit Larry remake into additional languages, create an orchestral soundtrack, and add on to the game itself.
Originally announced last October without mention of crowd funding, the Leisure Suit Larry remake is intended to be an overhauled version of the character's debut 1987 adventure game. In addition to high-resolution graphics, the game is expected to feature a modern point-and-click interface, full voice work, additional jokes, and compatibility with mobile devices.
