Adele is a bona fide Bond girl now, guys!
Don't get us wrong -- we were totally revved when we heard the news that Adele was preggo! Clearly, the thought of a mini-Adele running around filled our ovaries and uteruses (uteri?) with joy (TMI?), but we still couldn't help but feel a smidge worried that maybe all this new baby stuff would take Adele away from making new music. (What? We're totally selfish and it's fine. Judge away!)
Listen to a preview of Adele's "Skyfall" after the jump.
Though it's not quite a new album, Adele has now confirmed that she'll indeed be singing the theme to the upcoming James Bond film, "Skyfall." What's more, we've got a 90-second preview for you to listen to right this very second! Co-written with her "Rolling in the Deep" cohort, Paul Epworth, "Skyfall" is 90 seconds of pure "Adele is singing something new!" bliss.
Set to a haunting, piano-driven track, Adele's vocals gently lilt you as she sings: "Let this sky fall/ When it crumbles/ We will stand tall/ And face it all together.” Drama! A rush of whirling strings -- courtesy of a 77-piece orchestra — chime in later, adding even more drama to the already cinematic composition.
Shortly after the clip was released, Adele made a statement via the James Bond Facebook page (BTW, did you guys know there was a James Bond Facebook page?!): "I was a little hesitant at first to be involved with the theme song for Skyfall. There's a lot of instant spotlight and pressure when it comes to a Bond song...When we recorded the strings, it was one of the proudest moments of my life. I'll be back combing my hair when I'm 60 telling people I was a Bond girl back in the day, I'm sure!" See, and here we thought taking your daughter to a Chanel fashion show made you a cool mom, but nah! Being a Bond girl is way better. We're already jealous of Adele's unborn child. (Creepy? Nah.)
The theme for "Skyfall" will debut online at 7:07 a.m. EST on Thursday. (That's 0:07 a.m. BST, October 5, in London, the 50-year anniversary of the first Bond film, "Dr. No.")
