I have two great music loves right now: L.A. rock 'n' blues sisters HAIM and Glasgow, Scotland's synth-pop outfit Chvrches. For one thing, both bands are generating major buzz across the internet (Pitchfork, Slate, NME, Consequence Of Sound, and Idolator are all on board), AND neither has a problem punching out their own attention-grabbing, hooky material ("Forever," "Recover"), or paying homage to fellow musicians with the occasional cover (see: HAIM tackling "Hold Me" by Fleetwood Mac and Chvrches' remix of MS MR's "Hurricane"). But today we've got a brand-new Chvrches cover: an electronically enhanced take on HAIM's "Falling."

Performing at BBC Radio 1's Live Lounge Late, Chvrches stays true to HAIM's basic rhythm and melody, but they cleverly revamp "Falling" into a blippy, electro-tinged cut that showcases Lauren Mayberry's high-pitched vocals. Cleverly replacing the sisters' breathy staccato inhales with an avalanche of bloops, bleeps, synths, and choppy drum machines, what used to be a sincere rock 'n' roll ballad has been transformed into a shimmering summertime dance floor banger. (But only the kind of dance floors that exist in sweaty, Brooklyn basements. Just in case that wasn't clear.)
