We’ve been missing M.I.A. like it’s our literal day job (oh, wait, it is!). After a series of painful delays, the singer has officially locked down a release date for the long-awaited Matangi, and to celebrate, she’s released “Come Walk With Me,” a new track off her forthcoming release, out Nov. 5.
(P.S. We assuming she’s “celebrating,” ’cause that’s precisely what we would do if we were about to release a game-changing body of work. Especially if we hadn’t released one since 2010. THREE YEARS EQUALS A DECADE IN THE MUSIC WORLD.)
Listen to M.I.A.’s “Come Walk With Me” after the jump.
Following the album’s lead single, “Bring The Noize,” and the Toni Braxton-inspired “Unbreak My Mixtape,” “Come Walk With Me” is rooted heavily in pop. M.I.A. jumps right in at the forefront to sing over a simple, synth-adorned track: “There’s a thousand ways to meet you now/ There’s a thousand ways to track you down/ Whatever you said and done/ There’s a thousand ways to make it count.”
Yeah, “Come Walk With Me” is definitely one of the more radio-friendly tracks we’ve heard off Matangi… Now, if only they’d hurry and just release the damn thing! It’s like, we’re waiting patiently, Mr. Record Label man. WE ARE WAITING.
