Division has grown $134 million and shipped 1 million Xbox 360s during the fourth quarter; Microsoft hit with $900 million charge related to Surface "inventory adjustments."
Microsoft announced its full-year and fourth-quarter fiscal year 2013 results today. The company reported that its Q4 revenue for the period that ended June 30, 2013, was worth $19.9 billion, while its full-year revenue came in at $77.85 billion.
According to the rest of the report, the Entertainment and Devices division that also handles the Xbox brand grew to eight percent ($134 million) during Q4 and six percent for the full year. Transactional revenue within the Xbox Live online service grew close to 20 percent during Q4. The increase was due to higher Windows Phone revenue that was offset by lower Xbox 360 platform revenue.
Microsoft shipped 1 million Xbox 360 consoles compared to the 1.1 million it sent off during Q4 2012. The Xbox One will be available for purchase during Q4 FY 2014.
The company's financial report also includes a $900 million charge related to Surface RT "inventory adjustments." The news comes after the tablet line has reportedly underperformed. A hefty price cut went into effect this week.
