Minecon 2015 Announced, Coming to London This Summer

Following a one-year break, the all-things Minecraft convention, called Minecon, will return in 2015. Swedish developer Mojang announced the news Monday, scheduling this year's show for July 4-5 in London. That's Fourth of July weekend, but since it's in London, I guess that doesn't matter.

"If you like Minecraft, and you like people who like Minecraft, you'll probably like Minecon," Mojang wrote on its website. "It's the place to see all the cool Mojangstas you fancy, meet people who love Minecraft maybe even as much as you do, and attend panels and events full of YouTube creators and a ton of other talented folks!"

Minecon 2015, similar to past shows, will feature panels, tournaments, events, and a "soon-to-be-announced-show-of-some-sort" for the big Saturday night party.

The event itself takes place at the ExCel London Exhibition and Conference Centre. Tickets go on sale later this month through minecon.mojang.com; the exact date and time you'll be able to buy them will be announced in the next two weeks.

A total of 10,000 tickets will be sold for Minecon 2015, split between two batches that will go on sale the same day at different times to accommodate people's schedules. Buying a ticket will also get you discounted hotel pricing, so you shouldn't book a hotel room right now, Mojang says.

Ticket prices were not announced. More information about Minecon 2015, including details about how to volunteer and submit a panel idea, are available at the event's website.

Previous Minecons have taken place in cities such as Las Vegas and Orlando, with tickets starting at $150. This year's event will be the first since Microsoft acquired Minecraft and Mojang in September.
