Nintendo designer Shigeru Miyamoto says Metroid with GamePad "could be really fantastic," is personally eager for Star Fox to hit new console.
Nintendo fans hopeful for the Metroid and Star Fox franchises to come to the Wii U aren't the only ones. Speaking to IGN, Mario and Zelda creator Shigeru Miyamoto talked about the possibility for both series to hit Nintendo's first high-definition console, but stopped short of confirming that either project was actively in development.
"With Metroid, it's very easy to imagine some interesting implementation for Wii U," Miyamoto said. "I think that having another screen with the gyro built in really gives you a lot of interesting opportunities for development, and we can bring a lot of our games to life in a completely unique way with that."
"I feel like the possibilities of the GamePad for Metroid could be really fantastic," he added. "There's certainly a lot that you could do there for that game."
Regarding Star Fox, Miyamoto said he was personally eager for this franchise to come to the Wii U, but he did not share any further information.
The Wii U hits shelves worldwide this holiday season, but Nintendo has not yet announced the system's launch software lineup. Major Nintendo franchises confirmed for eventual release on the Wii U include Pikmin, Smash Bros., and Wii Fit U.
