Hotline Miami 2, the sequel to Dennaton's breakthrough indie title, has been delayed to "late 2014 or early 2015". A spokesperson for the Sweden based studio wrote on Twitter that the delay was to give the 2D depravity simulator "some final tweaks and polish". Hotline Miami was released in 2012 to widespread critical acclaim. It covers the deranged and life of a contract killer through abstract, intoxicated and deeply gruesome events. Gamespot's Hotline Miami review praised the game as a "discotheque of death that's very hard to walk away from, and a fantastic twitch shooter with a confident sense of style".
