Netflix has become just the latest media and technology giant to announce layoffs. Deadline reports that a "major restructure" is underway within Netflix, and that 15 people from the company's film division are being let go. This reported restructuring comes not long after Dan Lin became the new head of Netflix's film division, taking over for Scott Stuber, who left to start his own company. As part of the new organizational shift, Netflix's movie division will be broken down into genre, with bosses for each major unit. Ori Marmur will lead action, fantasy, horror, and sci-fi; Kira Goldberg is heading up thrillers, drama, and family films; Niija Kuykendall is taking the lead on young adult, holiday, and faith-based movies; and Jason Young is running the comedy and rom-com team within Netflix.
