New On Max In September 2023: The Venture Bros.: Radiant Is the Blood Of The Baboon Heart, FLCL: Season 4

As September draws near and summer is already almost behind us, Max reveals its collection of TV shows and movies set to arrive on the platform during the upcoming month. From the start of September, viewers can anticipate a lineup of fresh titles throughout the month.

On September 2, the movie-length series finale of The Venture Bros. comes to Max. Subtitled Radiant Is the Blood of the Baboon Heart, the finale focuses on a nationwide manhunt for Hank Venture, unearthing a looming darkness from the past that involves the Venture Family, the Guild, and the Monarch. Initially conceived as an arc for a potential eighth season, the 84-minute episode remarkably ties up loose ends on the wonderfully expansive, sprawling story and ends on a high note.

FLCL: Grunge, Season 4, the latest installment of the beloved chaotic anime, arrives on September 10. Directed by Hiroshi Takekiyo (After School Midnighters), it follows three young adults entering the working world, delving into their career experiences and generally figuring out what being a grown-up is all about. The new season features a CGI art style--a departure from its previous cutout animation style similar to South Park--which may prove polarizing among long-time fans, though such criticisms should be weighed against the Takekiyo's journey on also overcoming his initial skepticism.
