Bruno Mars sings of a lost love on "When I Was Your Man." TEARS!
Bruno Mars's Unorthodox Jukebox doesn't even drop until Dec. 11, but we've already gotten a hearty sampling of its forthcoming tracks. We've heard Bruno's cinematic "Locked Out Of Heaven," his retro-tinged "Young Girls," and his intoxicating "Moonshine." Now, Bruno's released the heartfelt ballad "When I Was Your Man." Or, as we like to call it, Bruno's unofficial take on Adele's "Someone Like You," but from the dude's point of view.
Listen to Bruno Mars' "When I Was Your Man' after the jump.
Over a simple piano melody, Bruno lets his lush vocals do all the explaining as he reminisces about better times, and pines for the girl who left him: "Too young, too dumb to realize/ That I should have bought you flowers and held your hand/ Should have gave you all my hours when I had the chance/ Take you to every party cause all you wanted to do was dance/ Now my baby is dancing, but she's dancing with another man." Um, that's a seriously Taylor Swift-style move right there, singing about what we're pretty positive was an IRL broken heart. You know how we know Bruno didn't make this whole thing up? Right before the song dropped, Bruno tweeted about how freaked out he was: "Soon you guys will hear a song I wrote called When I Was Your Man. I've never been this nervous. Can't explain it." Yeah, if that doesn't scream "this actually happened to me, guys," then we don't know what does.
