It's no secret that we've got a little crush on pop-punk singer Cady Groves. She's working on her debut album on RCA (PLEASE PUT IT OUT, LIKE YESTERDAY), and despite that sweet doll face and diminutive Polly Pocket size, she's got claws and spitfire wit, and she's not afraid to use them on tracks like "This Little Girl" and "IDGAF." And now Cady just dropped her next official single, and it's kind of the best thing she's done yet. In fact, it might just be our song of the summer. Not gonna lie.
The song's called "Love Actually," but if the title evokes rom-com realness with some British yuletide cheer, the song itself delivers decidedly American summery sparkle; A wistful guitar riff meets a propulsive dance-pop beat (with some wobbly dubstep thrown in for good measure), while the down-home flavor of Cady's vocals shows off her Oklahoma roots. It's the lyrics, though, that are the stuff pop megahits are made of. You should expect to be belting out "Cause every single day is like whoa!" in the car, like, approximately for the rest of your life. And the way she stretches out the words "Love actually" to around 12 syllables long? It's nothing short of miraculous.
"Love Actually" was written by Cady herself and produced by Swedish über-producer Kristian Lundin, and if it's stuck in your head forever, then consider that a good thing, actually.
