New Song: Eva Simons, ‘I Don’t Like You’

You may not know Eva Simons' name, but you probably know her voice: The Dutch vocalist's 2009 single "Silly Boy" was mistakenly attributed to Lady Gaga and Rihanna after Kanye West championed it as such on his blog. (Pro: Yeezy loves your song. Con: Nobody knows it's your song. Oh well.) Then, Eva scored a huge dance hit with Afrojack on the epic house banger "Take Over Control," which inspired legions of sweat-soaked clubgoers to, y'know, "plug it in and turn me on." Now, the mohawked songbird is stepping out on her own to make sure you know the name Eva Simons with her new single via Interscope Records, "I Don't Like You."

But don't take that title too personal! Eva's just mad at her dude, y'all. That frustration surges through "I Don't Like You," a brilliant pastiche of all of the dance-pop genres out there: Frosty house, buzzing chopped 'n' screwed electro, grimy dubstep, and glitchy progressive house, all pinned by Eva's husky vocals which soar into a chilling falsetto on the chorus. "Oh, I've gone cold/ In the heart/ Where did we go wrong?/ I don't even like you now," she sings. Basically, it's like being in five different nightclubs at once (except much less stressful than that comparison implies).

Helmed by the innovative German remix artiste Zedd (can someone hook us up with a futuristic mononym, please? Great, thanks), "I Don't Like You" has all the trappings of another big dance hit for Eva. Just don't say it's by Gaga this time, 'k?
