British girl group Parade: good at pop music, good at Polaroids.
In case you hadn't heard, girl groups are officially on their way back (especially the uniformly gorgeous, British variety!). And the new single from British five-piece Parade is leading the charge in a mayjah way.
After releasing their self-titled debut last year (and notching a Top 10 hit in the U.K. with their single "Louder"), the girls spent the front end of this year supporting The Wanted on tour before heading back into the studio -- and their new single "Light Me Up" is, as they say, a corker.
Listen to "Light Me Up" after the jump.
Produced by amazing girl group veteran Tim Powell (who produced singles for Girls Aloud and Sugababes), "Light Me Up" is celebratory synth-pop with drum-and-bass and dubstep influences all rolled up in an exhilarating radio-friendly nugget. Their rallying cry in the chorus, "You gotta light me up!" leads into the brilliant lyrical taunt: "You gotta smoke me like a cigarette and keep me burning, burning!” which, NGL, we might end up using as our new pickup line. (Also, don't smoke IRL. Thx.) It's hyper-danceable, hyper sing-along-able, and just plain hyper.
Word is Parade's working on their next album with MNEK and Ed Drewett (both of whom worked with The Wanted, too!). Consider us officially obsessed.
