Listen to Taylor Swift's colorful new song, "Red."
Taylor Swift broke out her pop side in the bouncy breakup anthem "We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together" (and totally killed her performance of the song at the 2012 MTV VMAs), got a little bit country and a little bit pop on her sensitive ballad "Begin Again," but gosh darn it, the all-country Taylor we know and love is back on her jingly-jangly new song, "Red."

The title track on the Glamour cover girl's forthcoming disc, "Red" assigns Taylor's emotions to a specific color (which probably ensures this song will be played in kindergarten classes all over the country): "Losing him was blue/ Like I've ever known/ Missing him was dark grey, all alone/ Forgetting him was like trying to know somebody you never met/ But loving him was red." Sadly, we'll never know who inspired Taylor to pen her colorful new jam, but the five-time MTV EMA nominee did open up (just a smidge, ugh) about the song's inspiration: "I wrote this song about the fact that some things are just hard to forget because the emotions involved with them were so intense and, to me, intense emotion is red." Intense red emotion with a side of John Mayer, perchance? Fine, don't tell us -- we'll just continue to stalk your personal life via each of your No.1 songs. Plus, chart-topping is the best revenge, right?! (CC: Adele.)
