Is it The Weeknd yet? Abel Tesfaye steals the show with his new track "Twenty Eight."

Master mixtape maker The Weeknd (aka Abel Tesfaye) is thiiis close to releasing his major-label debut, Trilogy, officially out Nov. 13 on Universal Republic. Coming off of the critical success of three previous mixtapes, House Of Balloons, Thursday, and Echoes of Silence, and The Weeknd seems primed and ready for his big musical coming-out party -- in fact, he even made an appearance on BBC Radio 1 to premiere the brand-new track "Twenty Eight," one of three new songs to appear on Trilogy, an album that will primarily feature remastered versions of his earlier work.

Accompanied by deeply pensive-sounding piano, "Twenty Eight" is a dark and tortured track that describes what it feels like to get played by your girl. That's right -- you'd think The Weeknd would be in the player's shoes, but when he sings "I'm so wrong/ To let you in my home/ Now you know where I sleep/ Never felt so damn weak," you know he's gone and picked himself a shady lady (did I just lose 25 cool points for that phrase?). Showcasing Abel's piercing, grievous vocals, a song like "Twenty Eight" has The Weeknd in the same wheelhouse as post-aughts R&B contemporaries such as Frank Ocean and Miguel but also evokes the raw vocal talents of 20th century legends like Michael Jackson. And no, we do not exaggerate. (When have we ever done that??)
