A new Star Trek TV show focusing on the characters of Captain Christopher Pike, Mr. Spock, and Number One is on the way. It has been reported that Anson Mount, Ethan Peck, and Rebecca Romijn will reprise their roles from Star Trek: Discovery Season 2 for the new series, which is titled Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. The show has been given a full season order by the streaming service CBS All Access. Star Trek: Strange New Worlds will be set a decade before the original Star Trek series and will follow Pike, Spock, and Number One on adventures around the galaxy in the Enterprise. In a statement, CBS All Access head of programming Julie McNamara said, "Fans fell in love with Anson Mount, Rebecca Romijn, and Ethan Peck's portrayals of these iconic characters when they were first introduced on Star Trek: Discovery last season. This new series will be a perfect complement to the franchise, bringing a whole new perspective and series of adventures to Star Trek." There has been much demand for Mount to reprise his role of Pike, ever since Discovery Season 2 finished its run in April 2019. There was a fan petition for him to be given his own show, and in an interview with SyFy Wire last December, Mount suggested that he would love to return to the role. Mount is the fourth actor to play Pike, following Jeffrey Hunter in the original Star Trek pilot, Sean Kenney in the '60s series, and Bruce Greenwood in JJ Abram's 2009 reboot movie.
