POLLUTO has been found! The “lost” and unreleased figure of the 1990s TOXIC CRUSADERS toyline is now available as an officially licensed vinyl toy from ISH! Partnering with original Polluto sculptor and Varner Studios co-founder Eddy Mosqueda, we have 3D scanned the original toy kept in Mosqueda’s vault for maximum authenticity and are offering it to collectors for the FIRST TIME EVER! Standing approximately 11” in height and featuring Toxic waste barrel legs and body made of Tromaville Trash, it is ready to FINALLY take a place on your shelf after almost 30 years!

One of the first projects I wanted to do after founding ISH in 2016 was to release an official version of the “lost” and unreleased TOXIC CRUSADERS POLLUTO figure. With only a single photo of POLLUTO online, there was a mystery about what happened to it when Wave 2 of the Playmate’s TOXIC CRUSADERS line was canceled in the 90s. I emailed around and was eventually told to try contacting Eddy Mosqueda who was co-founder of Varner Studios who sculpted the line. After a few emails and calls, I was in Eddy’s living room actually holding the pieces and pitching him the idea of making Polluto available to fans. Over the next year or so, Eddy meticulously got the original Polluto back into shape and even resculpted an entire hand that had been lost over the years. Overall, the original Polluto was in great shape so not much has been changed (although we did add in an ISH “Easter egg”) and once Eddy had made sure everything looked perfect we sent it off to THE 4 HORSEMEN to 3D scan for production and create a paint master for the factory.

I feel so fortunate to have worked with Eddy on this project and had the experience of spending time with him at his home. Most times, we would sit on his front porch and he would tell me stories about his over 40 years of working in the toy business. Starting out at Mattel when he was only a teenager (!), he worked on the original MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE line eventually moving on and co-founding Varner Studios who famously sculpted the TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES line for Playmates. (Fun Fact: Eddy’s first TMNT figure he sculpted was Usage Yojimbo!) Sometimes during visits, he would hand be boxes to open that would contain “holy grails” for toy collectors including original sculpts, first shots, etc. from original MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE, TEENAGE MUTANT NINJA TURTLES all the way to modern things like Billie Eilish figures. He’s an incredible talent and has such a wealth of information to share and I thank him for his generosity and patience during the entire process!
