Lana Del Rey covers Leonard Cohen's famed '70s track in her "Chelsea Hotel No. 2" video.

If Lana Dey Rey were starring in a film adaptation of her life, it would probably be "Back To The Future." Wouldn't you agree that Lana is a bona fide time traveler? With her full lips and voluminous Bridget Bardot hair, Lana is constantly repurposing the early '60s, whether it's channeling a Bond girl in her video for "Burning Desire" or Marilyn Monroe in "National Anthem." But in her new video for "Chelsea Hotel No. 2," a Leonard Cohen cover and rumored Janis Joplin tribute, Lana Del Rey springs forward a decade to croon about NYC's infamous musician breeding ground.

Directed by Ant Shurmer, "Chelsea Hotel No. 2" is a minimal clip, featuring only Lana, her plumper-than-ever lips, and her signature smoky vocals. Encased in dim lighting, Lana sings gently into a retro mic and lights her Marlboros as sepia-toned shots of the old Chelsea Hotel are intercut between her whispers. Somehow we're getting the feeling that Lana would like to count herself among the Chelsea's famous inhabitants (Bob Dylan, Charles Bukowski, Janis Joplin, Patti Smith, and Iggy Pop all stayed there at one point or another), which may be a tad presumptive, but oh, what the heck -- Lana does Leonard proud here, so it's hard to react too snobbishly.

Unfortunately, "Chelsea Hotel No. 2" cover doesn't appear on Born To Die or Born To Die -- The Paradise Edition, but we kinda wonder if she'll include it on any upcoming albums, which she's already described as being more "stripped-down" and "spiritual." Relive 1974 Lana-style below.
