Rihanna takes a sad bath in her "Stay" video.
It's been a great week for fans of Rihanna's Unapologetic ballad "Stay." Not only did she nail her stark, stunning "Stay" performance at the 2013 Grammys, but she picked up her seventh Grammy Award that night, too. And if you didn't already have enough Rihanna action for 72 hours, she just unveiled the official video for her Mikky Ekko-assisted single, and, as you might expect, it's so perfectly heartbreaking/emotionally vulnerable that we may have to draw our own sad bath in which to bawl.

Directed by Sophie Muller, "Stay" opts for a simple and organic vibe, perfectly matching the poignant ballad. A makeup-free (grrr... lucky) Rihanna sits in the bathtub (completely naked, FYI...but no surprise there) looking somber and melancholy as the piano-driven melody lilts on. We get a few close-up shots of Rihanna's many tats, and before we know it, one lone tear falls from her face as she sinks deeper and deeper into the tub while we sink deeper and deeper into a mild depression. Mikky Echo has some somber, staring-in-the-mirror moments, but he doesn't get to share the bath with Rihanna -- instead he just sits in a weird spa-like locker room to deliver his star-making verse.
The baptismal effect feels like a seamless transition from Rihanna's "Diamonds" video. And the realistic, confessional look at Rihanna should go over well with the Rihanna Navy, who worships Rihanna for her willingness to give honest looks at her life and state of mind. It should also go over well with fans of naked, bathtub Rihanna... which is probably every living, breathing person/place/thing on the planet.
