Nope Review Roundup: What Critics Are Saying About Jordan Peele’s New Movie

After the sketch series Key & Peele, Jordan Peele flipped the script in 2017 with his directorial debut Get Out. That film was a critical and box office success that also remade Peele's image into an impressively satirical and cutting horror filmmaker. Nope is poised to continue this new arc of his career, and many fans have been sold on the fact that this is a new Peele film--and that's reason enough to see it. To wit, many fans have been avoiding trailers--or arguing that the one released in June might give too much away. Either way, many are very excited for what Peele has in store.

Nope is written and directed by Jordan Peele. The film's cast includes Daniel Kaluuya, Keke Palmer, and Steven Yeun. The three play residents of an isolated town who witness a mysterious and abnormal event and attempt to capture video evidence.

As of this writing, Nope has an aggregate score of 77 on Metacritic, based on 39 critic reviews. Over on Rotten Tomatoes, the film has a higher 90% based on 60 reviews. These scores will likely shift as other outlets publish their takes, and note that these averages don't take audience ratings into account.
