NYCC hosted the world premiere of the new DC Animated film “Batman: Return of the Caped Crusaders” (find my review later in the article).

I was lucky to attend the screening that opened to a full house on the main stage at NYCC. I wasn’t expecting much of the movie, going into it somewhat cold, having not watched a trailer or read much about it. I usually enjoy DC Animated films and was pretty sure about what I was getting but was pleasantly surprised.
I won’t get into spoilers but the returning cast members (Adam West, Burt Ward, and Julie Newmar) all sound great. I was particularly impressed with the nuance in Adam West’s performance. I was taken aback by the fact that despite his distinct voice and hearing him in “Family Guy” all these years Adam West still managed to make Batman sound like Batman. Albeit his very specific version of Batman but it’s still a unique performance and worth watching the movie for.
Plotwise this movie also felt like a spiritual sequel to “Batman: The Movie” with Joker, Penguin, Riddler, and Catwoman teaming up to take on the dynamic duo. I really enjoyed the story and the turns in takes on analyzing Batman’s personality. Highly recommended to Batman fans in general, especially fans of the original series.
