If Lego ever tries to get the license for an Astro Boy set, it's going to have a pretty high benchmark to clear when compared to the kit produced by Pantasy. Not just faithful replica of the manga and anime icon, this set lets you peer into the inner workings of Astro and is on sale $70 (normally $90) at Amazon. An officially licensed replica of Astro Boy, the 1,258-piece kit has a half-mechanical design full of intricate details, and when fully assembled, the bionic boy is over 32cm tall. As a display piece, there are some fun extra touches on this Astro Boy replica, including LEDs, a small amount of articulation, and a display base to keep Astro securely in place. Pantasy has expanded its Astro line with a few more kits, in case you're looking to put together a few diorama pieces. You can get an all-white version of the model listed above for $55 in a limited-time Amazon deal, and the end result of this project is quite striking to behold. For something more casual, there's a set that'll appeal to Avril Lavigne fans, as you can build a skater boi version of Astro. This is very similar to the models listed above, but instead of seeing Astro in his default form, he's dressed to shred and comes with a skateboard that you can pose him with. The other really nice set is the Astro Boy Awakening Moment kit, a lovely little showpiece that recreates the manga, TV, and movie scenes where Astro was brought online for the first time. You've got a mini-Astro, the pod he was sleeping in, and all kinds of neat mechanical pieces that you can construct to bring this iconic moment to life.
