Omni virtual reality treadmill starts shipping in July

The Virtuix Omni treadmill, designed to work in conjunction with the Oculus Rift virtual reality headset, will begin shipping to customers who already preordered it in July. If you preorder one today, you’ll be able to get it as soon as September.

Customers purchasing the $499 package will get the Omni platform, shoes, belt, and tracking hardware and software. A second package is available for $1,019, which includes two treadmills. Additional shipping costs, which are sure to be substantial given the size of the device, will be added at the time of shipment. The price of the Omni also doesn’t include an Oculus Rift, which you’ll need in order to use it. Preordering an Oculus Rift development kit 2 will cost you an additional $350.

Much like the Oculus Rift, the Texas-based Virtuix took its Omni to Kickstarter in June 2013, asking for $150,000 to fund the project and eventually raised $1.1 million.
