One Direction heads to the beach to cover Oasis' "Wonderwall."

We're of the belief that there are just some songs that should NOT be touched and obviously, Oasis' "Wonderwall" is one of them. However, that in no way means that we're not gonna watch One Direction's beach-side cover of the song!

And yes, while this does go against our fundamental cover song dogma, there are some cool things about 1D's cover. First, their faces! It's not like we won't stare at Liam Gallagher's mug while he sings this masterpiece, it's just that we'd much rather lock eyes with Harry Styles and/or Liam Payne and/or the entire band while they sing it. Additionally, the boys get mad props for their setting choice! If you're gonna rock a cover of one of the best songs ever, you might as well do it on a beach and time the swell of the chorus with the crashing waves. Nice touch. And here's the thing: it's not like One Direction sounded terrible! They didn't -- they sounded cute, sweet, a little messy, and adorably boy band-ish. It's just THAT SONG, you know? You can't. Nobody can. But look on the bright side, fellas! At least we made you this STUNNING GIF wall, you're up for TWO 2012 MTV VMA nominations, and you're performing live at the show! Just stick to the incredible "What Makes You Beautiful" and leave the Oasis covers to Beady Eye. Cool? Cool.
