Welcome to Buzzworthy's "The Week In Pop," where we round up new album releases, talk show musical guests, TV performances by your favorite pop stars, and more (so you don't have to).
This week, Sunday can't come soon enough because Paramore and One Direction are performing during the 2013 Teen Choice Awards! The show airs on FOX at 8 p.m. ET and attendees include Demi Lovato, The Wanted, Emblem3, and more. But before we get to the end of the week, on the album front KT Tunstall drops her fourth studio album, Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon (catch her Friday on "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno"). Also, The Civil Wars end their short hiatus with a self-titled album, Outasight drops the EP Stay Gold, and the choir-buzzed-up-on-happy The Polyphonic Spree release Yes, It's True.
NEW ALBUM RELEASES
+ KT Tunstall, Invisible Empire // Crescent Moon: KT Tunstall lost her father and also got divorced while in the midst of making this record, and those personal losses informed the double title, as she told NPR. To get a feeling for the two different sides expressed on the album, check out the video for "Feel It All" and watch KT play a live, acoustic version of "Invisible Empire."
+ The Civil Wars, The Civil Wars: Joy Williams and John Paul White followed up their Grammy award-winning debut album, 2011's Barton Hallow, with a hiatus announcement, but that was obviously short-lived as their self-titled sophomore release attests. Hear "The One That Got Away" and see the band's story behind the song in the "Inside The One That Got Away" video.
Check out more new album releases, upcoming TV appearances, and performances after the jump.
+ The Polyphonic Spree, Yes, It's True: Led by former Tripping Daisy Ted DeLaughter, the symphonic pop group (which boasts 20 members) release their fourth studio album and their first housing original material in six years. Check out the buoyant single "Hold Yourself Up" via Soundcloud.
+ Outasight, Stay Gold EP: MTV Push Artist Of The Week alum singer-songwriter/producer Richard Andrew (aka Outasight) has crafted his second EP. Listen to the single "Hell Yea" via Soundcloud.
