In an effort to make it up to fans affected by the recent PlayStation Network outage, Sony has announced that it's extended the Flash Sale and Holiday 2014 digital sales promotions for an extra week.

The Flash Sale (see all the deals here) was previously expected to end on December 29, but it's now been extended to 12 PM Pacific on December 31. The Holiday Sale, meanwhile, will now end on 12 PM Pacific on January 6. It was also previously scheduled to end on December 29. See all deals here.

PlayStation Network and Xbox Live were brought down on Christmas Day from DDoS attacks that made it difficult--and sometimes impossible--for users to connect and play games.

In the wake of the network outages, Rockstar Games extended the Grand Theft Auto V Christmas festivities, while Bungie is giving fans more time to claim rare items from Xur.
