Power Saber Energy Blade Review

Growing up I had an extending blade toy that didn’t light up, it wasn’t even branded and I couldn’t tell you where I got it from. The toy wasn’t even a solid color, in fact I cannibalized my brother’s sword in order to get the blade to be mostly green, except for the tip that stayed yellow. This toy was very fun, requiring inertia to extend and manual force to retract. This type of toy was very common in the 90s and could be found at most retailers from drug stores, discount stores, major toy stores (which sadly no longer exist), etc. Now you very rarely, if ever, find this type of toy with one company dominating the space with various blades at different price points. However, Goliath Games has recently put a toy on the market that truly changes the game for laser sword role play, the Power Saber Energy Blade. Here’s a video from their YouTube page to give you an idea if you haven’t already heard about this:

This toy is amazing. I was stunned by it’s functionality, you can imagine my amazement at how fun it was to use especially when my mind went to my childhood days. The extend/retract feature has a button that works pretty simply: push it up the blade goes up, push it down the blade goes down. It lights up very clearly with fun sounds and even has a built in clip for your belt or waistband. The Power Saber Energy Blade comes in a very large window display box that not only shows off the toy but clearly communicates on the packaging all the features with neat graphical detail.

Looking at the box I noticed the saber was in some sort of display stand that at first glance just looked like it was plastic bands to keep the toy in place. Once I opened the box I was very surprised to find that it was in fact a very nice plastic display stand that holds the blade in place for either a horizontal position or even wall mounting. This was a very nice touch that I was not expecting, adding to the value.

In the short time that I’ve played with the Power Saber I found the extending and retracting to be extremely satisfying. I never thought in my lifetime I would get a toy like this. It fulfills a childhood dream that not even the most accurate movie replica could reproduce. This has now become the best laser sword toy on the market that can appeal to both collectors and children alike. Now the price point is a bit higher than average at $59.99 but I think the value is in the experience. I’m very excited that this exists and would highly recommend, I have the red blade but there’s also a green blade available.
