Rayman Legends delay ‘humbled’ Ubisoft, Wii U getting free mode

Ubisoft offers Wii U owners Rayman Legends' challenge mode early.

After upsetting the Wii U's Rayman Legends fans by announcing a delay to make way for Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of the once-exclusive title, Ubisoft will be releasing the game's challenge mode for free on the Wii U eShop.

"We just wanted to reach out and let you know how truly humbled we were by the outpouring of support from the community and the fans about the announcement of the delay of Rayman Legends, and let you know that it definitely hurt us to see you guys so upset about the delay," said senior game manager Michael Micholic on Rayman's Facebook page.

"We have another two fans sitting in front of the studio protesting," added creative director Michel Ancel.

The challenge mode for Rayman Legends will be released in April and will offer a series of daily and weekly challenges for between one and five players, though Ubisoft did not say how much original content this mode would contain.

Players' records across these challenges will be stored on leaderboards.

The challenge mode will replace Ubisoft's previous promise of an exclusive demo. Rayman Legends will be released for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U in September.
