SANTA FE, N.M., Oct. 22, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — “We’re all about giving our guests a memorable experience — and giving back to our community.” That powerful statement comes from Christine Gabaldon, Director of Marketing for Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino. “On October 28, we’ve got big plans to do both, and it promises to rock your socks off!”
That’s when two major charitable events are scheduled at the venue, and the public is invited to join in for the “feel-good fun” of it.
First up? The first of its kind 2018 Car Show. Themed “Simply the Best,” there are already 30 classic and custom cars from around the country now registered to be on display, including one from as far away as Kansas City. And according to Marketing Coordinator Amanda Martinez, that’s just the beginning.
“We’ve had a lot of interest in recent days,” Martinez said. “I think we’ll see many more cars join in which will really make this first-time event a crowd pleaser.”
The car show kicks off at 11 AM on October 28 in the main parking lot, and will include a DJ spinning “simply the best” tunes, food and beverages, a magician and face painter for the kids. Admission is free to the public, and for those who wish to register a show car, the cost is $15 plus a donation of five cans of food.
“Funds raised from the car show will benefit the Food Depot,” said Gabaldon. “It’s an organization we frequently support here at Buffalo Thunder because of the invaluable assistance they provide to those among us who are hungry and in need of our support.”
If motorcycles are more your thing? Buffalo Thunder has a special seat saved for you, too.
That’s because the annual Pueblo of Pojoaque Toy Run also takes place on October 28, and it’s always a crowd favorite.
“I’ve had guests tell me it’s the most meaningful motorcycle ride of the year,” Gabaldon said. “They participate in the toy run and really feel like they are making a difference in children’s lives.”
Santa Fe Harley Davidson is the meeting spot for motorcyclists, and festivities will get underway at 11 AM. At 1 PM sharp, all kickstands up and riders will proceed to Shadeh Nightclub and Lounge, located inside Buffalo Thunder. Entertainment and frito pies will be provided with an entry fee of $10, or a new toy valued at $10. Proceeds will benefit less fortunate children in the community.
“We are deeply committed to inspiring and enabling young people in our area, particularly disadvantaged youth,” Gabaldon said. “Our 2018 Pueblo of Pojoaque Toy Run furthers our mission and we invite everyone to participate with us.”
Buffalo Thunder Resort and Casino is located and operated by the Pueblo of Pojoaque just north of Santa Fe, New Mexico. Opened in 2008, Buffalo Thunder joined the ranks of the casino elite of New Mexico, included its sister casino, Cities of Gold. Art from Native contributors statewide, and from many different Pueblos, are displayed proudly throughout the casino.
The Food Depot is committed to ending hunger in Northern New Mexico. As the food bank for nine Northern New Mexico counties, The Food Depot provides food to 145 nonprofit agencies including emergency food pantries, hot meal programs, shelters, youth programs, senior centers, homes for the mentally disabled and shelters. This service enables these agencies to stay focused on their primary missions such as sheltering homeless families, providing hot meals to the homebound and offering life skills development to youth. The food bank distributes an average of 400,000 pounds of food and household products each month, providing more than 430,000 meals to people in need–the most vulnerable of our community–children, seniors, working families and those in ill health.
