Report: Former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to buy the Clippers for $2 billion

Steve Ballmer, former chief executive officer at Microsoft, has reportedly won a bid for NBA team the Los Angeles Clippers. His $2 billion bid has set a record as the highest price paid for an NBA team.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Ballmer's offer beat investors Tony Ressler, Steve Karsh, and a group including David Geffen and Guggenheim Group executives. The Geffen group and Ressler allegedly bid at $1.6 billion and $1.2 billion respectively.

Steve Ballmer's retirement from Microsoft was announced in August last year, having served as the company's CEO since 2000. He was succeeded by Satya Nadella in February this year, but remains on the company's board of directors.
