Capcom and Sony have announced that upcoming Resident Evil HD remake will support cross-buy on PlayStation 3 and PlayStation 4, meaning if you buy one version of the $20 game, you'll get the other free. There is something of a catch to the deal, however, as it only works if you preorder the games from PlayStation Network and live in North America. If you do preorder, you'll not only receive both versions, but also an exclusive theme, Capcom explains on its blog. The Resident Evil HD remake also supports pre-loading on PS3 and PS4, meaning people who preorder can play the game the second it unlocks next month.
The game, a high-definition version of 2002's Resident Evil REmake for GameCube (which itself is a remake of the 1996 original), was announced in August. It will output in 1080p on Xbox One and PS4. The new Resident Evil remake looks a lot better than the original. You can see for yourself through this set of comparison images, released last month. The Resident Evil HD release date is January 20, 2015. The game is also coming to Xbox 360, Xbox One, and PC. In addition to the Resident Evil remake, Capcom will release Resident Evil: Revelations 2 in 2015 for consoles and PC. The publisher may also be working on Resident Evil 7, according to a report.
