Wargaming.net, the publishers behind World of Tanks and World of Warplanes, announced that the registration for the International Ural Steel Championship 2012 World of Tanks tournament is now open and will continue until July 31.

The preliminaries will be held on regional World of Tank servers, spanning Southeast Asia, North America, Europe, Russia and China, from August 1 to August 10. The 16 top teams from the aforementioned regions will then compete in the finals set at the Alexander Gomelskiy Universal Sport Hall CSKA Sports Arena in Moscow, Russia on September 15 until September 16. The prize money total for the tournament amounts to $77,000.

The tournament abides by the standard seven versus seven rules of World of Tanks: each team must have a maximum of seven players and are only allowed up to tier 8 vehicles maximum, and each team is allocated only 42 tier points.

Battles will be held within a time limit of 10 minutes. The maps used for the tournament will be Ensk, Himmelsdorf, Ruinberg, Steppes, Prokhorovka, and Lakeville. Whichever team wins two out of five battles in a match is declared the winner.

The first International Ural Steel Championship tournament was held in 2011, and had 40,000 participants from 30 countries. For more information on World of Tanks, check out GameSpot's recent article.
