Aiden from Watch Dogs inspired by Dexter, Walter White

Ubisoft senior producer Dominic Guay says protagonist in new open-world game "not necessarily a good guy," but is someone players can relate to.

Aiden Pearce, the main character in Ubisoft's upcoming open-world action game Watch Dogs, is not specifically a good person, nor is he inherently evil, according to the developer.

Senior producer Dominic Guay explained in a new ZoomIn Games video interview that Ubisoft was inspired by Dexter from Showtime's Dexter and Walter White from AMC's Breaking Bad for Aiden.

"The way we designed him is that he would not necessarily be a good guy or a bad guy," Guay said. "So we're inspired by characters like Dexter or the series like Breaking Bad, where the main character is not necessarily a good guy, but he's a person with flaws, with qualities; someone we can relate to and that you will bond with even though he does sometimes things that are not necessarily good."

Guay explained that Aiden will "evolve" throughout the course of the game, with players able to determine, to an extent, just how much the character will change.

"But Aiden is not a bad guy," Guay added. "He becomes a vigilante, so he is there to inflict his justice on the city of Chicago."

Watch Dogs launches for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, Wii U, and PC on November 19. The Xbox One and PS4 versions will be released as launch titles for those platforms.

Ubisoft expects the game to sell more than 6.2 million units. For more, check out GameSpot's previous coverage of Watch Dogs.
