Lego Minifigures Online coming to PC, iOS, and Android during second half of next year. Lego Minifigures Online--the all-new massively multiplayer online game from Age of Conan and The Secret World developer Funcom--will launch during the second half of 2014, it was announced today. The game will be available on PC, iOS, and Android at launch. A business model was not announced. Lego Minifigures Online is based on the Lego minifigures line of real-world toys. These toys will include a code to download a virtual version as a playable character in the game. Players will be able to collect around 100 characters in all, and can swap between three playable characters at any given moment during the game. Lego Minifigures Online will also feature PVP, though Funcom said it would talk more about this component later in the year. The game was originally announced last year. A Lego MMO game has been attempted before. In October 2010, NetDevil launched Lego Universe, but the game had a short life. In November 2011, the Lego Group announced it would be shuttering the game. It managed to attract 2 million users, but failed to set up a satisfactory revenue model, developers said. For more on Lego Minifigures Online, check out the video below. Nintendo talks competition with Xbox One, PlayStation 4
by GameSpot's News | August 29, 2013 at 1:35 pm

Scott Moffitt says "we're the one that is doing something a little different," calls out Wii U GamePad as "innovative" and "unique." Compared to the Xbox One and PlayStation 4, the Wii U is the only next-generation system doing something "a little different," according to Nintendo marketing executive Scott Moffitt. Moffitt explained to GameSpot this week that the Wii U's second-screen functionality, via the GamePad, represents a new way of play that is unmatched by its competitors. "If you look at the new generation of consoles, we're the one that is doing something a little different," Moffitt said. "With second-screen gaming, with the GamePad; we're trying to offer something that's innovative, that feels unique and different that people can't play on past generation consoles." Though the Wii U is the only new system to feature built-in second-screen support, the Xbox One and PS4 will offer similar functionality through SmartGlass and a standalone application, respectively. Yesterday, Nintendo announced a $50 price cut for the 32GB Wii U, dropping the system to $300 effective September 20. The $250 8GB model will be phased out. This new pricing will put the Wii U a full $100 below the PS4 and $200 under the Xbox One. Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime recent commented on the Xbox One and PS4 launch lineups, saying "meh." Read and Post Comments | Get the full article at GameSpot
