Emma Stone is a trailblazer. That's not hyperbole, it's fact: Just watch the MTV Movie Awards this Sunday and you'll see for yourself when Stone accepts the first-ever MTV Trailblazer Award. The prize speaks for itself!
It's no secret that Stone's a favorite around these parts. What's not to love? She's spunky, talented and bold in her choices both on and off the screen. Don't believe us? We'll prove it! Here are seven other reasons Emma is more than deserving of the inaugural MTV Trailblazer Award.
» Because she faced a rocky start to her career — having to embody an expectations-heavy character such as Laurie Partridge in the short-lived "The New Partridge Family" and heartbreakingly losing out on a starring role on NBC's religiously watched "Heroes," to list two examples — and went on to play countless fantastic roles and win numerous accolades ... like this one, for instance.
» How many other 23-year-old stars have zombie apocalypse, stoner comedy, racially charged Oscar-attracting drama and superhero credits to their name? Not too many aside from Emma — and because of her, we hope to see many more young actresses join her diverse ranks in the near future.
» On top of that, she's entered that none-too-rare stratosphere of Actors Who Date Their Co-Stars ("Amazing Spider-Man" lead Andrew Garfield, if you haven't been paying attention) and not only isn't annoying about it, but is actually pretty damn cute about it. Here, look. See? Cute! Her contemporaries could learn a thing or two from her fling with Spidey.
» Speaking of the "Amazing" web-head, Emma's sporting her natural blond 'do as the female lead in this summer's Marvel blockbuster. Who else can serve as a role model to redheads and blondes alike?
» And speaking of "Spider-Man" just one more time, Emma stars in the comic book flick as Peter Parker's first love interest, Gwen Stacy. Fans of the storied source material already know the final destination of Gwen's turbulent tale, and it takes a whole lot of courage to embrace such an iconic role knowing full well the tragic fate that lies ahead.
» In further nerdery, Ms. Stone is quite possibly the only person in the history of humanity other than Carrie Fisher who can make Princess Leia look awesome. (No offense, Guild of Slave Leia Cosplayers.)
» Perhaps the most important reason Emma is worthy of the MTV Trailblazer trophy? She made out with Ryan Gosling in "Crazy, Stupid, Love." Like, a lot. And she's probably going to make out with him a whole lot more in "Gangster Squad." Like, a lot a lot. (On second thought, I'm not sure that makes her a trailblazer so much as the object-of-every-woman-everywhere's jealousy, but hey, credit where it's due.)
